Title: Bray Air Spectacular 2010
Post by: joey1 on February 28, 2010, 05:04:42 pm
Hi All

Well it's back again this year  :applause:

The Bray Air Display 2010 will be held on Sunday 25th July, start time is 3.30pm.

Since PORTRUSH has been canceled this year maybe the pilots that usually attend portrush
Could be persuaded to display at bray this year being 100 years and all that

Maybe I’m asking for a miracle here guys !

Possibly-the dates for the Portrush Show and Bray didn`t clash so I don`t think it would make much difference to the Bray lineup.

Just checked the Bray website, Dave Bruton, Eddie Goggins and Red Bull Matadors to perform.  Although these are no doubt excellent display acts a little diversification is seriously needed at this show.  For the last couple of years the Bray airshow has had pretty much the same acts displaying.  All prop aircraft at that.  I have lent my support by visiting this show each year but unless something interesting appears on this years lineup I won't be attending again.

Bray may be a difficult display area to involve fast jets,
With bray head close by   It could prove to be a hazard  :airforce_sad:

The C17 Globemaster was a nice addition last year hopefully  a return visit  this year?

Twister Duo -just added to lineup.  Getting better lads.  Now fellow Airshow 100 refugees Hurricane and Vampire would be nice.

Hi Guys,

The Bray Air Spectacular (formerly Bray Air Display) have taken on the 100 years of aviation in Ireland mantle.

Click here for the PDF version (http://www.brayairdisplay.com/downloads/bray_air_display_poster_2010.pdf)

And the flying display so far consists of:

Red Bull Matadors
Twister Duo / Silence Twister
Eddie Goggins / Extra 300
Dave Bruton / Bucker Jungmann
Angelo Cunningham / Scottish Aviation Bulldog
Gerry Humphreys / RV-7
Farrell McGee / Edge 360
Declan Curtis / DHC Chipmunk

Aircraft are being added in bits & pieces, 2 months to go so it should have padded out a bit by then.

Regards,

Frank.

PRESS RELEASE                   Friday, May 28th 2010

BRAY SUMMERFEST AIR SPECTACULAR TO REACH NEW HEIGHTS FOR CENTENARY

100 years of Irish aviation will be celebrated at Ireland’s largest free air spectacular on Sunday, July 25th, as part of Bray Summerfest.

Award-winning aerobatic pilots will thrill tens of thousands of spectators, who are expected to line Bray seafont for a bird’s eye view of aerobatic loops, pirouette spins, and nose-down spiral descents.

Now the only free air display event taking place in Ireland, this is the fifth consecutive year of the Bray Summerfest Air Spectacular, which is now firmly established as the nation’s most popular air event.

Bray Summerfest and the Simtech organising team are planning a two-hour ‘centenary celebration’ display to mark this year’s 100th anniversary of Irish aviation which will feature aerobatics, search and rescue demonstrations and parachuting from Irish and international acts.

Sé Pardy, the Display Director for Bray Summerfest Air Spectacular 2010, is promising a fun-filled afternoon of aerial entertainment for families at Bray Seafront: “Five time Irish Aerobatic Champion Eddie Goggins is guaranteed to put on a daring display again this year with his knife edge rolls, flat spins and corkscrew maneuvers. We’re also looking forward to seeing the Red Bull Matadors, Gerry Humphreys, Angelo Cunningham and the Twister Duo take to the skies in Bray on July 25th.”

As part of An Garda Síochana’s traffic management plan, spectators are strongly advised to arrive in Bray early and to use the DART or other public transport services to Bray.  Further information about the Air Spectacular in Bray, which starts at 3:30pm, is available at www.airspectacular.com (http://www.airspectacular.com).

The Air Spectacular 2010 is one of the main highlights of Bray Summerfest, Ireland’s largest free family festival. Running across six weeks from early July to mid August, the Bray Summerfest programme includes live music, arts, fireworks, funfairs, garden parties, Irish and international crafts and food markets, beach sports and much more. Full details are available at www.braysummerfest.com (http://www.braysummerfest.com).

Which bird? the penguin? the Dodo? I thought a birds eye view was straight DOWN from directly above? Are all the spectators going to be suspended a few thousand feet ABOVE Bray?
It is good news though. :stirthepot:

Don't suppose you'd care to elaborate?
I saw most of the Air Corps returning from their practice displays about an hour a go.  It says on the Bray website there will be a Pc 9 in attendance.  They'll actually be bringing a four ship.

Great to get a visit from the "BUFF".  Pity it was only one flypast but then it was carrying a heavy fuel load.  Well done to the Bray organisors  :applause:

Joe

I thought the PC-9s, AW139 and CASA were all very good, as was the S-61, and agree that the Red Bull guys were the best of the aerobatic acts.  Several of the smaller types were mostly too high and far away to make an impact.

Dave Bruton gave an excellent display.  Would be nice to see a section of Air Corps helicopters as opposed to the usual singletons they send of late.  Does anybody know we have never seen a fast jet or major display team at this show?  Location maybe?
