Have been reading this message board for a while now, very informative, decided to become amember so as I can post.

Was just wondering when/if there will be another airshow in casement like the one a couple of years ago?

What was the hastle over the last one? Was it due to rubbish being left in places it shouldn't - like the exhaust pipes of airplanes as someone said before? Would definitely like to see an airshow in Baldonnel again.

Yeh Rubbish down the afterburner of an F-16, Civvie security that skived off to leave members of the public wandering the active ramp, Aircraft being broken into.....Need I go on?? It was held on our base and we were responsible for marshelling and refuelling on a voluntery basis but it was the civvies that were running the show and we were left to pick up the remnants (Syringes in one case...but I wont go into that) by grovelling and eating humble pie with the foreign aircrews!!
It would have been a great show if it had been better organised. It might have looked good but behind the scenes it was a farce, I mean how dare a civvie who knows F-ALL about ramp ops tell the lads were to go and what to do while he drives along the active ramp in his 4X4 breeching all the safety regs!!!! Leave the next one to the Aircorps lads!!!!

Hear hear.

The temerity of the civvies to invade our base, screw up countless years of good relations between foreign crews and the Air Corps and create a hostile atmosphere towards any future airshow in Casement is unforgivable.

The military can usually be trusted to screw up, but that farce was very little to do with the military. They just got left carrying the can. Next time, leave it to them and maybe all the grovelling with the other crews will have been worth it.

The civ's even turned the Frecce Tricolore crews away from the hospitality tent, saying that it was for VIPs only.

Bullshit.

The Air Corps will not run a show until they have something to show themselves, and the PC9s will not be ready to display realistically for a couple of years. You can't expect a military organisation to run it as a commercial venture, it's all about showing off what YOU can do, not what everyone else can do and you can't. So until then, they ain't interested in what the public want. Go to Salthill.
