Aviation Photography / Improving the upload page.
« on: September 07, 2011, 09:44:27 am »
Just a couple of ideas (nicked from elsewhere) for improving the photo upload page,

1: Show your previous months upload percentage as well as your overall percentage.
My overall % might be 60% or higher but my previous months % might have dipped below because
of rejected pics.

2: The ability to delete/remove pictures from queue after uploading,
Many's a time I've uploaded a picture only to see it in the queue and regret said upload.

3: It'd be nice to know how many pictures are ahead of yours in the screening process.

These are not criticisms of the site, simply a wish list.

Aviation Waffle / JET2 incident

Very OTT headline.
http://www.theolivepress.es/spain-news/2011/07/24/ibiza-plane-bursts-into-flames-above-holiday-island/

Looks like the engine ate something that didn't agree with it! Possibly ingested a bird or debris on takeoff?

One of my photo's has been used on the front page of The Irish Times Business section. I was contacted for permission which I duly gave and was told I'd be credited for the picture and be paid, I'm delighted with the pic being shown (They've superimposed a person onto the pic but that doesn't matter to me) but I'm wondering how much I'll get paid for it as I didn't agree any price (I assume they have a set rate for that type of photo?)
I know it won't be much but has anybody had a photo used by a national paper and been paid for it?

Caught this fella over Baldonnell during one of the state visits recently, what are the additions under the wings? extra fuel? rockets?

Aviation Waffle / Dakota's in Dublin
« on: March 15, 2011, 12:14:49 pm »
I'm trying to find out more information about who would have operated the DC-3 in Dublin in 1961? or more specifically between Dublin and Jersey in the summer of '61 (July).
Any information would be most helpful. I suppose the chances of photographs are practically non existent but obviously any would be fantastic.
Thanks very much for any help on this subject.

Aviation Waffle / St Maarten-Princess Juliana TNCM

An amazing location most would agree, I've yet to see a bad photo from here but is it a busy airport with lots of movements or is it a case of quality over quantity?

Just driving past the back of Dub yesterday and noticed a plain white fuselage, possibly a 738? is this an ex FR machine awaiting painting? Also, two ex SAMA still sitting there, anybody know the regs? Thanks for any info on the above.

Aviation Waffle / EI-CPC

Repainted and going to URAL AIRLINES, question is, who owns her? will she continue to carry the Irish reg?
Will Aer Lingus replace her or are they just going to cut back on capacity?

Aviation Waffle / SAS equipment

Firstly, I don't know if its ok to put up a link to someone else's photos so if it's not, please delete it Frank.
A photo of an SAS CRJ900 at Dub, are SAS replacing some/all of their MD series with the Bombardier or is it
just being used when load factors are low?
It'll be sad to see the end of the MD's at Dub if this is the case.
The CRJ gets pretty lousy reviews for pax comfort in the US but maybe it suits the European pax stature a bit better?

Aviation Waffle / Large 4 prop over Sth Dub today
« on: November 23, 2010, 08:46:50 pm »
Was working in the garden today (Saggart/Citywest area) and heard a large 4 prop going over at altitude, looked up and it seemed to be a Herc, and was followed 5-10 mins later by another one (unless the first one had done a large circuit?), they seemed to be climbing judging by the sound. they flew in a south/southwesterly direction. They seemed too high to have climbed out of Baldonnell and too low to be just passing through so I can only assume they came from Dub. Approx 14:40-14:50 today. Anyone?
