Irish Air Corps / Allouette's are like Duracell!
« on: June 07, 2004, 09:31:42 pm »
All this talk of the new aircraft got me thinking of something pretty amusing I saw when I was in Paris a few days ago.
I was unfortunately caught up in the Bush extrvaganza when he roled into town the last day,and I noticed that the trusty little aircraft providation observation for the motorcade was an allouette!!
No shiny new EC-135/145 etc.,but the venerable Allouette!
It was a lovely red one with what looked like a white lightning stripe down the side of the fuselage, twas just nice to see that some other service apart from the Air Corps are still reaping the benefits of that absolute tank of an aircraft!
It's gona be sad to see them go.

Irish Air Corps / Aptitude tests?
« on: April 27, 2003, 04:52:59 pm »
I was wondering if anybody on the board had any advice they could give me about the aptitude tests for the air corps.I have mine on Tuesday and the practice tets on the military.ie website are for the army and navy only.
I know you're not supposed to be able to study for these tests but some advice from people who have done them in the past perhaps would be much appreciated.any advice at all, send me PM even!
Thanks,
Lude

Irish Air Corps / What's this?!
« on: December 08, 2003, 01:48:14 pm »
A two ship Dauphin formation has just passed over my house and landed in Carrickfinn.
I never thought I'd see the day when I'd see more than one dauphin in the air together this far north!
Wonderful to see,and tight flying as well.Any idea's if there is any special reason behind this btw??
Come to think of it I've seen more of the Dauphin up here than I have of the S-61 since it took over!

Hi Lude,

The Air Corps S61 will work up over the summer from it's base in Sligo and it will eventually replace the Dauphin sometime later in the year.

Irish Air Corps / The leaving's a b***h!

sorry JUDE, as far as the high stress part goes part goes its not all that stressfull, sitting the final interview is stressfull in its own right but if you get that far you already got a spot you just have to reasure the board that they made a good choice plus the 2 senior officers on the board are the ones who will in charge of training so there also looking to see if you will be a easy person to work with, the thinking is would i like to spend 6 hour in a cockpit with this guy, so i guess what im saying is 'just be confident'.
