Irish Air Corps / Casa's FLIR
« on: June 02, 2006, 04:02:45 pm »
With the upcoming upgrade of the Casa's and the replacement of their current FLIR,is it possible that these surplus turrets could be reused on a different platform, the cessnas come to mind......as the equipment is already paid for, depends on the cost of modifying the ac's,would give a very cost effictive  short rang survilance asset.Hopefully the powers that be ,dont just dump them or relegate them to technical training ,this would surely be a terrible waste and a missed oppertunity.      '<img'>

Irish Air Corps / CASA's pass the 20,000 flight hours mark
« on: March 13, 2006, 07:48:17 pm »
According to this months AFM,the first CASA to be updated will be out of service from early 2007  till the end of the year and the second will be upgraded in 2008, will there be a back up aircraft leased in ,to take the place of the A/C out of service...probaly from CASA.It would be hard for one aircraft to cover the work of the 2 for a period of up 2 yrs.

Irish Air Corps / Memories of EI BBJ
« on: March 07, 2006, 10:23:42 pm »
Now I know this is not related to the AC but just had to post this.............Sad to see the present state of Ralley EI BBJ  semi derelict in Weston,in a recently added pic in the gallery.....I have very fond memories of doing circuits and bumps in it, around weston in the 80's...manual flaps...like a handbrake..I'm sure many more of you must have happy memories of BBJ  'airplane'
