Visit to Baldonnel, anyone interested?
« on: April 11, 2011, 06:58:34 pm »
I was talking to the Air Corps Press Officer today and I enquired about the possibility of organising a visit by IrishAirPics.com / WorldAirPics.com forum members to Baldonnel.

The visit would take the form of a tour around the hangars & museum, and as far as I'm aware photography will be allowed (forgot to ask about that :airforce_rolleyes: ), I can confirm details & dates once I have an idea of numbers.

If you are interested in paying a visit to Baldonnel for a tour please let me know by voting above. I will try to organise it for a day during the summer, preferably one with sunshine! I think Wednesdays are set aside by Baldonnel for tours but I can confirm all that once I have numbers.

Regards,

Frank.

I'll try to avoid clashing with big air shows in the UK when it comes to dates, I could have some problems with dates myself but we'll see how that turns out.

I would just like to add this:

I'm not taking anyone on the visit who is not known to me. If you have not made some contribution to the forum or uploaded some photographs to the website then you're not coming, not as part of IrishAirPics.com / WorldAirPics.com anyway.

In other words, if you just sign up for the forum and do nothing else and then expect to come on the visit think again.

I hope that is a pretty understandable requirement for everyone.

Frank.

Bit of news for you guys , over on another forum (radio related) . they were planning a trip into BAL , but were informed that all visits were cancelled for APR - MAY due to security issues.
Not quite sure what the secuity issues are ,but theres a lot of people on that forum who spend a lot of time running down the AC, the same clowns then turn around and expect a tour?.

I think the upcoming royal and presidential visits to Ireland may have caused the visits to be cancelled (only speculating but I'd say it's a good bet).

Like I said earlier in this thread, I'm only taking people I know or people who have contributed to the website.

Generally speaking everyone on this forum has been very supportive of the Air Corps, or at least have a positive interest in the Air Corps so I don't think we'll be bringing any nay-sayers.
