Hi,
I bought examples of the 1/48 and 1/72 kits mentioned above.
Both are still in the 'to build' pile but on first observations the 1/72 kit looks very small indeed.
Hopefully decals for the 1/48 kit become available at some stage as this would appear the better of the two kits.
I will still of course build the 1/72 as I happen to have the old Maxdecals sheet to cover same

Just noticed a great new selection of IAC Decals being announced by Max Decals (Max4814) to cover Avro Ansons,DH 9 and extremely useful wing stripes.Delighted to see that the IAC EC135 is also included in both 1/72 and 1/32 scale.Let the heli kit building begin !!!!!!!!

Hi Sealion,
As you mention the 350 is indeed a single engined machine and am still trying to figure out(through the use of photos) how I will manage the conversion.I imagine quite a bit of sawing and filler will be needed in the conversion to represent the Garda aircraft.Hopefully the result will look something like the real thing !

Irish Air Corps / Color of the new Aer Corps helicopters?
« on: February 27, 2007, 07:50:11 pm »
Hi Lads,
I believe Hu 116 equates with FS 34079 or RLM 71 although another reference I came across had suggested Green RAL 6031 which equates with FS 34094.This colour, called Bronze Green, has been suggested as being 6 parts Hu 116, 1 part Hu 95 (discontinued) and 2 parts Hu 80.
The above data from a number of websites including www.ipmsstockholm.org which is most useful.
Hope this is of assistance although I must admit that I still have the 1/32 kit awaiting construction (and painting) so cant advise what looks the best as of yet.

Hi Filip,
Two Heller kits are available.
AS 350B3 'Everest' (Kit number 80488) (the kit you mention) and also kit no 80485 Ecureuil 'Bombardier d'eau' which has an addition of a 'water bombing' tank. Both kits look the same otherwise.I think both with the appropriate conversion will make up to a nice 355.I have a number of close up photos taken of Garda AS355 255 at Salthill Airshow which may help with your modelling of this aircraft.Feel free to email me and I will arrange to send them on to you.

Hi Yeehah,
I have to say my experience of purchasing kits from the US mirrors your own.Sometimes you can be lucky and at others it works our very expensive.
You had mentioned the kit for the Casa... This kit manufactured by Broplan can be sources from Aeroclub-models.com in the UK.(REf.BP7261 1/72 Casa/IPTN CN235M) at the cost of GBP£25.49.As you say when you allow for the sterling rate conversion and postage it is quite expensive. At this price you can only have one shot at making the kit and makes you very careful when removing the vacformed parts from the backing medium!!!!

Czech Master also have a nice resin kit for a Vampire T.11 in 1/72 scale.(Kit reference :CMR No.116).By carefully selecting decals from a number of MAXDECALS sheets and from the usual left over decals from the spares box it is possible to build a pretty reasonable kit.

In relation to Liams post above, the 1/48 scale Fonderie Minature Fouga is available from Squadron in the US.(www.Squadron.com).
I bought this kit a while back and it, with approximately 30 other kits of former and current IAC aircraft, is still awaiting construction.Currently in the process of trying to build a 1/72 vacform kit of the Casa and then starting a 1/48 resin kit of the Warrior.
Managed to get my hands on a resin kit in 1/72 of PC9 last year and it builds quite nicely (tried to find the packaging to source the manufacturers name but cant just locate it at present but I believe they are in Eastern Europe)
Best of luck with sourcing the other kits mentioned,
Ray

Joe ,
Absolutely delighted to hear of the plans for re-release and of new decals too.Have been waiting for ages for decals for the Dauphin in 1/48 (built the kit about 2 years ago) and decals for the Squirrel kit which I got in 1/48 scale only this week.Schemes for the Warrior in 1/48 would also be very welcome!! Have also built a (much modifie) Learjet and the cheatlines are a real pain to do without decals.A full re-spray would happen if decals to suit were available!!
