I honestly don't know Silver. I can't see the Casa being switched to another operation. At least not yet. Then what about the King Air? The government jet?

Two types of aircraft? maybe it was a pointless statement meaning the AC will operate both helicopters and planes?!

I have no idea.. anyway..

The GOC, The Air Corps stated on Six One News this evening that the future fleet will comprise of two types of aircraft (i.e. two engine types) ?

How would that include :
- Light helis,
- Medium lift helis,
- PC-9's and
- CASA's ?

Or will it mean Light helis and PC-9's only for the Air Corps ?
(i.e. CASA's and Medium Lift for Coast Guard !?)

Or maybe it means turboprops and helis only ?

The govt jets may be operated by a civil company in the future - and maybe the CASA's will be transferred to the Coast Guard.

Then the AC would be a purely military organisation (i.e. military roles only) - something many have been advocating for quite a while.

It was not that at all, she knows more about the DF then most blokes do including serving officers. But she did like the dig about the New Goverment Jet. And she shares most peoples frustration at the lack of investment, lack of foresight and lack of basic equipment for the air corps.

I heard that too Silver, was the GOC trying to embarass the goverment by saying we are getting a New Goverment Lear jet and Maybe some New helicopters soon. My wife thought he looked like one of the Smurfs!! I do apoligise if he reads this. Nationwide tomorrow night at 7 has a bigger story.

Yeah, I think most Irish people are not used to seeing the AC forage caps !
(I presume that's what you wife was referring to ?).

Actually it did sound like he was emphasising the govt jet a bit - good on him if he was !
........and there was a definite 'maybe' regarding new helis arriving anytime soon    ''
