And in further developments along these lines, just yesterday a senior Dissident Republican was jailed for years after he was caught trying to buy arms for the RIRA, CIRA, et al. MI5 used a sting operation in which one of their operatives who called himself "Ali" posed as an arms dealer operating from Eastern Europe.

Considerable amounts of cash were handed over to Ali before the Dissident was finally arrested. And the shopping list he wanted and was prepared to pay for ?

50 + AK 47 Assault Rifles
20 + RPG Rocket Launchers
Dozens of hand guns
1000s of rounds of ammo plus grenades and ammo for the RPGs
And a request for SAMs if possible

He clearly stated that their intention is to restart the war and take it to a " higher level " which makes sense if you want to start the next and final round in the Irish conflict. I wish people in the south would wake up to what is happening here and what will happen. I again ask that the government of the ROI should stop whinging about money, get jets, tanks and APCs and call up 10,000 more fully armed troops. You will boost the economy for starters but more importantly, youre gonna need them and a lot sooner than you think.

And people laughed at me on another thread for suggesting that this island is potentially the most unsafe country in western europe. If Dublin clownland members can get their hands on RPGs what can the chaps up here get their hands on eh ? Makes ye think now maybe ? Naw, probably not.

I WAS a student at one time but NOW I am a teacher Bluefox. These picky and childish comments about grammar are ridiculous. Its a message board, not a dissertation FFS ! Anyway, thanks for the good wishes lads. An interesting comment by Short Finals on the operational costs. However those can easily be factored in. I have to say that my plan WILL require some political will on the part of Government but it can be done. Also I expect no difficulty whatsoever in seeing the minister, I have a very good friend who can pick up the phone and talk to the Taoisoch ( sp ) in the space of 2 minutes.

Also, do any of you know of any TDs who ARE suppportive of an expansion in military capability ? I would not pretend to be an expert in Southern politics, hence my question. If there are a few TDs who would be interested perhaps a lobby group could be formed. Also, I am fully aware that the economic landscape is dire and that this would seem to be the worst time to put forward a proposal of any sort, nonetheless, I feel this plan will work. Cheers all.  :airforce_cheesy:

Irish Air Corps / Some Points.
« on: April 30, 2010, 02:47:39 pm »
I see Frank locked the last thread which is why I had to start this one. I have a question, but I will get to that in a minute. Once again we have certain people having a go at me on the last thread, yous would need to grow up hi. Are you interested in having a proper Air Corps with attack capability or not ? Anyway, yes I will post pics if you so desire after the meeting with the DM.

Next up the comment about telling a politician and national security. You dont need to worry, I wont be giving the TD the details, they dont need to know, they will facilitate a meeting with the DM. I assure you all this plan is doable - even in these shocking monetary times.

I also had to laff at the chap who said Im not an aircraft consultant. Where does it say one has to be an expert to come up with a good idea ? History is littered with inventions and ideas which came from people who were scoffed at as " non experts ".

Now to my question, which on the face of it may seem ludicrous. Here it is. Would the Air Corps actually want 6 or 8 L159s when my plan is proven feasible ? I would have thought so, but maybe theres someone on here who will tell me different.  :ireland:

Irish Air Corps / That Air Corps Jet Plan At Last, Or Is It ?
« on: April 26, 2010, 10:59:50 pm »
Well I see Bluefox tried to shoot me down again but however. So, to the plan. Well, I cant reveal it right now. I had second thoughts and decided it might be counter productive and operationally unwise to tell the whole world. Instead, Im seeing a TD with an interest in my proposal in the next two weeks. After that Im for Dublin to see the Defence Minister. Yes, the plan is doable and affordable. Thats all I can say right now. Also Bluefox, Im not a kid so stop patronising me. Dont mistake my enthusiasm for ignorance. Im a qualified teacher well over the age of 40, so cut the c**p please. Cheers.  :sleepy:

You will  be easier talked to when I get the Air Corps 10 new jets. :airforce_laugh: We will get 8 ALCAS and two Gripens, cos Bluefox is right we need a couple of real interceptors. I love them Gripens man !

Thanks Lads. Im on the piss today so I will post my plan tommorrow. Drinking is one of my weaknesses unfortunatley. CK, I want to bring my family down to Baldonnel in May. How do I go about it ? Im willing to meet any and all forum members at that point, if anyone wants to meet me.

Irish Air Corps / Would You Ban Lootenant Pigeon ?
« on: April 12, 2010, 12:38:05 am »
Frank informs me on another thread that I am the " most complained about poster in years " and that some people have asked for me to be banned. Heres your chance to have your say. I must state that I find it INCREDIBLE that anyone has this attitude. I also find it amazing that Im some kind of bete noir and the worst in years.  I will take Franks word for it though. I have written nothing deserving of a ban. I have asked legitimate questions, made some suggestions and mentioned the North. So what ?

Debate is healthy, democracy is healthy. Whats wrong with some of the people on this board ? Is reality too much for yous ? I have still to reveal my proposal for the AC Jets. I also feel we should have these jets regardless of Primary Radar considerations. I will continue to say this and I will outline my proposal in a new thread. Thats if Im allowed to... :airforce_rolleyes:

Aviation Waffle / Re: Waterford SAR to go to 12 hrs in new contract
« on: April 12, 2010, 12:15:38 am »

Thanks lads. But where does it all end ? If you extend this " value for money " Govt argument far enough sure you could wind up with a privatised Air Corps ! Ridiculous stuff. :airforce_rolleyes: Unlikely I know, but Im playing devils advocate here.

Another ridiculous government decision in relation to Irish Aviation, just to save what amounts to almost nothing at all in the greater scheme of things !  :airforce_rolleyes: Thank God its been reversed. OK Pink Panther ( or anyone ) give us a brief summary of why the AC dont do SAR, if brevity is possible.

Irish Air Corps / Re: Why, how and what jets the IAC should get.
« on: April 10, 2010, 01:47:46 pm »
Bloody good reply Bluefox. Youve shot me down in some ways.  :) I did know the RAF are not in the North. Thanks for the points about the radar system. I do of course know about the importance of radar in the battle of Britain and ever since. But could we not get a less expensive system ( in these recessionary times - with defence contractors slugging it out ) for say £100 million ?

Next up, I freely admit I dont know all about military radar, I thought any radar could spot a moving target, transponders on or off, eg, the Germans didnt have transponders in 1940 did they ? Yet the Brits still spotted them.

As for the point about keeping a jet full time in the sky well I have to admit to ignorance on the cost. I know all about the paranoia of Israel and the USA and assumed it wouldn be a budget buster to keep a jet up there full time, maybe my assumption was wrong. Surely the RAF does this on a limited basis ? BTW, I did a dissertation on the Yom Kippur Arab - Israeli war at Uni, I will admit to being ignorant about the cost of full time jet patrols but dont tell me Im not up on my current affairs. Other than that, a very good and considered reply from someone who is a pilot. Cheers.

BTW, I only want whats good for Ireland folks.

Paul.

Well thanks for the replies and sorry to hear about your job Frank, Im unemployed myself at the moment. There were some decent points made there but my arguments still stand. Lets take the reasons to have jets first.

1.The hijack scenario is very possible, so we should have jets and yes, I would have one or two permanently in the sky for this reason.

2. Civil War in the North. Very possible at ANY time. Theres a lot of unfinished business up here whether you like it or not and the " Peace Process " is a joke for reasons too numerous to mention. Dont let it fool you as I said. WHEN it kicks off next time, note that I say WHEN, not IF, you will all be dragged into it. No we wont be going up against the RAF as some dismissive poster said, because the RAF wont be here, or cant you see that ? They will have withdrawn. We need jets to support our ground troops who will have to go into the North to finish this once and for all. The British will have already done a back door deal to leave the North which will ignite said civil war. I believe, as do others that this is their ultimate plan. The British said quite some time ago that they have no " strategic " interest in staying in the North. In short we need jets in the event that this happens.

3. I did say an attack by a foreign power was unlikely didnt I ? So lets leave that one.

4. What wrong with PRIDE ? Why not have jets for that reason alone ? Why Not ?

Anyway moving on. The Recession argument we know all about and it doesnt cut ice with me. No money my ass. The Government are pumping BILLIONS into Banks, eg Anglo Irish. Also my plan envisages not actually spending ANY public money at all, so the Media, the man in the street and the Unions and uncle Tom Cobley and all ( and anyone on here who puts this argument forward ) dont and wont have a leg to stand on. In my next post I will tell you where the money comes from, but I will wait for a few more responses to this post first.

As for this £200 million Radar system, who says ? I dont buy it. We dont have one at the minute and the PC-9s and every civil airliner over Ireland is still flying safely. Why do we need a £200 million radar system ? Even if we do my plan could still raise that. So, over to you for a few responses. BTW its very insulting the number of people on here who have delighted in putting my idea down and called me a madman with these  :rotfl: kind  :fryingpan: of smileys in every post.

You havnt even heard my proposal yet ! Typical Irish, defeatism. Get up off your knees, phsyically and mentally ! We can do this and we must do it.

A final Point to the bloke who said we couldnt intercept rogue airliners with the L159s. Rubbish. This plane can do 300 miles approx in 30 mins or 150 miles in 15 minutes. Scrambled from Baldonnel in the middle latitude of the country this means that almost no point in Ireland is more than 15 minutes away from Dublin. A Baldonnel based L159 could reach any plane within 75 miles of the Capital in 7 minutes approx or less. Another L159 stationed in the West at say Knock or Galway would have the same 7 minute or less response window for the West of the country. They fly at about 600 mph. Your average airliner is at 500 mph or less. There might be a minute or two of catch up time in a worst case scenario but we could stop any hijacked plane in minutes.

So there it is. Lets have a REAL Air Force for Ireland.
