Aviation Photography / You and your Camera gear!

Since this is a photography aviation orientated website we should all say a little about our camera gear.I look at some pics and think wow i wonder what lens and camera was used to get that shot!

I use an Olympus E-3 and an E-520 cameras.Lenses, Zuiko ED 50-200mm f/2.8-3.5(my cameras have a x2 crop factor so the lens is 100-400mm effectively), Zuiko ED 12-60mm 1:2.8-4.0 SWD and im going to add the EC14 x1.4 Teleconverter before RIAT.

Irish Air Corps / EUFOR air support

Now that the deployment of EUFOR to Chad has been confirmed, what air support  i.e. Troop transport heli's, gunships and definitly needed close air support (CAS) assests are to be deployed since this was one of the stumbling blocks that postponed the deployment int he first place.Im guessing alot of french equipment since they already have Pumas, Transalls, gazelles, and Mirage F1s in the country.Im hoping this will be an eye opener for the government that we need more assests of our own(though i know highly unlikely).

I understand if it cant be discussed due to it being an operational matter, but almost everything has been made public anyway about this deployment down to the number of bullets our guys are taking!

Dauphin at sea  i found this pic while browsing through yahoo pictures. I never saw it before and im wondering is that Eithne with equipment on the heli deck or is it just a deifferent ship?

Irish Air Shows / salthill airshow 2007?!

Wow its exceptionally quiet here despite the airshow yesterday!so what did you guys think about the show!?i thought it was good despite the cancellations of some of the acts and the terrible weather and thankfully nobody was seriously injured by the falling door panel from the merlin, im guessing though there is an ongoing investigation into this and as such cannot be talked about?!

come on let us know what you think and upload those pics for all to see!

Aviation Photography / Olympus SP-550 Ultra Zoom

Im going to buy this camera and all the extra goodies for it once it is available here!its a nice camera(18optical zoom very nice indeed for a bridge camera!) and a very good compromise for someone on a budget or a first time camera with a lot of features found only on DSLR until now!what do you guys think of this little gem?

Aviation Photography / lenses!?

is a bigger lense better for taking pics of aircraft further away from you?im getting a 150mm lense for olympus E500 but olympus have a ratio factor or something like that built into their cameras so it will actually double the lense power to 300mm and im also looking for a 1.4-2.0X converter for the lense aswell so it will end up something like a 450mm lense i think!any advice on lenses?

this sounds like a real good idea?how about selling model aircraft that IAC fly(past and present) but with IAC markings.you rarely see them around and i know i would buy an example of each aircraft anyway!

Aviation Photography / Buying a new camera

hey!im going to buy a new camera for airshows and what not, but im wondering what would be the best option?i have a budget of 600euro.i was thinking of buying a normal film camera!they are lot cheaper now and offer just as good performance apart from the whole getting the film developed thing!i have a 5 megapixel fuji with 10optical zoom now which is ok for low flying aircraft and static displays but i want something with a bit more bite!any hints and tips on what to look out for on both digital and film such as add on lenses etc?i  would appreciate any advice given!
