It's a short in-cockpit video apparently taken in a RAF Hawk.  There's nothing in it to confirm or otherwise that either of the guys on board were Irish Air Corps.

Flyboy

the video clip is shot from the back seat of an RAF Hawk (or at least it claims to be) ... it is entitled "IRISH AIR CORPS CREW R A F HAWK OVER WALES" and was posted on 12th Jan 2007.

The video is handheld by the "backseater" initially looks out through the canopy then turns around so you can see the "passanger" There's no visable insignia on the his flightsuit to indicate whether he's IAC or not.

Edited to say short finals just beat me to it!!  ':p'

Hi Guys,

The guy in the back is indeed a serving member of the Air Corps, but he was not there for aircraft evaluation purposes or anything official like that, he was literally just the GIB (guy in back).

Regards,

Frank.

Cheers frank  '<img'>

What about the man in front though? I remember hearing yarns years ago after the fouga was retired, that the Air Corps were keeping experience in jet training by sending crews over to the RAF.

But I never really gave them much substance, with this tape I guess I could have been wrong though. Unless this was literally just a joyride offered by the RAF  'buttrock'

Hi pym,

The pilot was definitely RAF, like I said, it was nothing official on the part of the Air Corps, just a photo mission with a guy in the back who just happened to be a member of the Air Corps.

Frank.

Hi guys, long time no hear!!

There are some stills of the flight on this site! If you search for Hawk images their the ones of the backseater giving the thumbs up before the flight and a self portrait and cockpit shot while in flight. I know the photographer well and by the way he did actually fly the hawk for 30 mins on this flight!!!!

Hi all
Exchange visits happen all the time.Either an aircraft is sent or just personnel are sent to keep abreast of new developments.Nothing "secret squirrel" about it; just maintaining friendly relations with the Mainland Air Force.

Was the GIB on board the Hawk as a private individual or as a member of the IAC?

If he was there in the latter capacity why on earth did he feel it necessary to post his vid footage on you_tube?

Was the post offically sanctioned by the Air Corps or indeed the RAF?
