Irish Air Corps / 2009...... what a year

Just looking back at 2009 and I've figuered out....... what a year !

Ofcourse the most important, and very sad , news was the loss of two very fine IAC airmen.
On the Dutch forums they only complain about the loss off "265".
This is one of the reasons I'm not posting anymore on these forums.
Again, I wish the families of these airmen all the strenght in 2010.

Looking at the point what the DF have done in 2009 all over the globe it's enormous.
In Chad, your men ( and women ??) are still involved in peacekeeping not to forget the Bosnia erea.

on a personal note the second week of February 2009 was absolutly great.
I had the honour of meeting GOC R. James at Baldonnel .
Next to that I had a tour which showed me all the aspects of the IAC in general.

To be honest..... I'm used to the Royal Netherlands Air Force but the "drive" in the staff of the IAC is much higher than in this country.
This is one of the reasons why my support to the IAC is more than I can ever give to the RNLAF.

Let me end this with the wish that 2010 will be the best year ever for : the people in the IAC, their families and everybody who supports the IAC.

European Air Shows / RNLAF Open Dagen

This year the RNLAF Open Dagen ( airshow)  will be hosted by Volkel AFB.

This base is the home of 4 F-16MLU sqns.

Participants so far:
-Patrulla Aquilla / Spain
- Turkish Stars + C-130H support
- F-16 solo display
- E/F-18  ( Spain)

looking at the politics and the choise for a new fighter I presume that the Swedes bring a JAS-39C NG to "show off".

Next to that you can expect ( as always) loads of Dutch hardware.

Both static and air display are great for photographers in Volkel/

Irish Air Corps / Guinness in Ireland

Hello all,

on Feb. 11th I'll be flying to Ireland again and will stay near Baldonnel ( Green Mile Hotel )
On the 12th and 13th I'll be on the Don.
After that I'll be drivin' up to Co. Clare for a few days

Anyone wanna meet up for "a sneaky pint"

Ok guys,

here we go.......

as mentioned earlier I had the chance to "work " with the IAC overseas.
PC-9M 263 was a very welcom participant on the air display.

the next shots I took during the airshow.
worth mentioning is that I was in the opperational area instead of the "public " line so a few shots were made there.

Hello to all of you,

afther a long absance the Paddy from Holland is back on line.

I've been busy the last awl months but ...... here we go again !!

Maybe I can start up with a decent shot I took at Leeuwarden air show this summer.

I had the priveledge to work with the IAC PC-9M demo and had a great time with the 2 pilots .

I would like to share some of the Apache pics I took last week on Gilze-Rijen AFB.

All pics are taken' from outside the base using a max of 200 mm.
These shots can be made with a 50 mm as you can walk towards the choppers.

on Gilze-Rijen AFB is,  next to 301 AH-64D Sqn, the Home of the Royal Netherlands Air Force Historical Flight.

I'll try to "catch" all the planes there for you but I'll start off with this one.

Also based are : Spitfire, harvard, Fokker S-11, Fokker F-27, Beech, etc etc.

Aviation Photography / Military Aviation Museum

Last Sunday I've visited the RNL Military Aviation Museum near Soesterberg AFB.

There are aprox 60 to 70 planes and choppers there all in perfect state ( exept for the USAF F-100 and Sabre )

Here are some pictures of it.

here are some pics of EHGR ( Gilze-Rijen AFB)
The An-124 was there a few weeks ago so "swap"some Apaches for our mission in Afganistan.

The Spitfire is based at EHGR in the RNLAF Historical Flight.
