Is there any public transport access available? Say from Amsterdam? The train journey from Charleroi to south Holland does take a couple of hours.

Hi 202,

The best thing to do would be to hire a car.  I'm thinking of going for the Saturday show and if you fly with Ryanair and book a car via their website you'll get the likes of a Fiesta for 65 yoyo's, Focus for 80 yoyo's.

Getting accommodation could be the biggest problem.

Frank.

202,

the easiest way to do it is to fly to Charleroi or Niederrein ( 2 or 1 hour drive to Gilze Rijen) and then to book a hotel in Tilburg.
From Tilburg central station there will be free buses to the airshow ( aprox. 20 min).

If you guys need info of hotels down-town Tilburg, please let me know as it is my home-town and I know a few people around here.

I realy hope we can have a gathering in the Netherlands on the saturday night :-).

Kind regards,

Surely Rotterdam is much closer - direct flights from Dublin by Transavia.

Hi Short Finals,

It all depends on what part of Ireland you're coming from.

For instance.... Ryanair fly to Charleroi from Shannon and Shannon is a lot closer to Galway than Dublin, and I'd rather cover 120 miles on European roads than Irish roads any day!

As well as that, the Ryanair Shannon flight times suit me down to a tee.

Try the Ryanair Niederrhein route .
It's for sure that Niederein is much closer to Tilburg ( and the airshow)than Charleroi.

I might be there also. On those Belgian Fouga's: one is for the Solo  Display, the other one is the spare. They might place it in static, but small chance. And they are not 11SQN but 7SQN/Flight Fouga  ':p'
edit: Almost forgot: 2005 Solo Display shedule on my website www.fougamagister.be . this year is the FINAL display year before retirement, so if you want to see a Fouga flying in Europe, check out one of the shows! Their are a few displays in the UK also like Duxford.

another thing. 40SQN doesn't fly alouette 2 but Alouette 3 (technicly Navy pilots, but they are with 40SQN). the Alouette 2 is flown by the ex-army guys (SLV I think)

"The rumours are that it will be a "closed" ceremony for the P-3 Orion with no special visitors. Or it will be a small "open day" with a small collection visitors."

Hope thats of use to you.
Fox section cleared for the break..

Davedublin,

The P-3C 's are still there.
I hope they will recieve their new collors before the "show".
10 of them are bought by the German Navy and 3 by the Portugese.
I'll try to find out if visitors will be present and keep u all informed.
