Irish Air Corps / AW 139 questions
« on: December 17, 2007, 02:05:34 pm »
It has been said that an optimum heli fleet would be 4 EC-135 and up to 8 AW-139. If this is been activly sought by the defence forces is another thing. Hopefully!!!  'thumbsup'

Well done "Team"!!!!

Hope other historic aircraft are to follow, and lets just hope the C7 and the 195 will now be regulars in Irish skies.

well done.

Hi Guinness,

I visited that museum some years ago. Well worth it!! Unfortunatly i could only make some shots of the planes displayed outside cause my batts where very low. Hope to go back though next year or the year after.

I Totally agree with PYM,

Although the Army is now speeding things up regarding gear (although i'm still waiting for my rain gear) it is still a joke. I'm a member of 3 AD, we got issued safely boots 2 month ago only because a fella in the unit had a 5.5 ton Bofor rolled over his foot and broke several bones. We wouldn't be wearing safety boots if this hadn't happend. The point is, we get the gear we need after accidents happen.  'thumbsdown'

Gormo is still very much in use, i was down there 3 weeks ago for a gunnery course. In those 6 day's i saw a lot of Pc-9's simmulating base attacks, AW-139's low passes (Base patrol), All 3 where regulars, ATC was manned every day ect.

The hangars are full of crap though, (electronic voting machines  '' -waste of space and money, anyway). The aircraft crash investigator crowd are there aswell.

with a new hangar and a longer runway a perfect place for another CASA.   '<img'>

I fully agree lads,

In light of the 100-300 million euro worth of cocaine that was "found" in the sea. This was one just one of many drug smuggeling opperations that take place every year, only this time it went wrong, how many of these opperations do go right each year though, you have to ask yourself. With some more frequent patrols and propper intel (UAV)a few shippings should/can be stopped. I know the 2nd Casa in in Spain to be updated but 2 unarmed patrol aircraft and a hundreds of miles of sea we need to protect? Not enough if you ask me.

Quote (SousaTeuszii @ 11 July 2007,03:41)
Hi Guys,
With reference to more helis there is absolutley no current requirement for them.

SousaTeuszii,

If you start thinking like that than there is no current requirement of our Air Corps besides the GASU and 101 Sqn.

Fianna Fail fall didn't ask for requirements but just what we would like to see within the aircorps.

so all requirements aside what kind of aircraft would you like to see in the A/C SousaTeuszii?
