Title: Humanitarian aid; the States response and the Air Corps
Post by: Shamrock145 on January 15, 2010, 05:11:41 pm
Watching the pictures from Haiti got me thinking; as part of the States response, why not send 2 AW139's with crew and support to assist in the distribution of aid and evac? Presumably they fit inside something bigger for transport.

It would be great if the AC could dispatch two helis to help the poor victimes in Haiti. But unfortunately I cannot see it happening. Time-after-time whenever there are similar humanitarian disasters this (good!) idea is suggested, but the govt have consistently refused/declined to do so.

In the current 'Flying In Ireland' Willie O'Dea (answering a dail question) said there is no intention of deploying Air Corps aircraft abroad on missions. Id say this will be the answer we get if the question is posed re Haiti.
