I wasn't sprung from the bench but for those who may be interested in what is checked in the AC medical:

Height/weight
Different measurements for reach etc as in the brochure
Urine test
Blood tests
Blood pressure
X-ray of lungs
ECG (Records electrical activity of the heart, checking for heart problems. Half a dozen electrodes are placed on your chest)
Audio test
Dental exam by dentist
EEG (records brain wave activity checking for neurologial problems such as epilepsy, 24 electrodes are hooked up to your head!)
Eye exam by an ophthalmologist
Finally a check by the chief air doctor.

greetings all,a newbie here!!
i'm planning on applying for the cadetships next year, but i have a question.i recently got an eye test done and, alas, didn't meet the 6/9 standard(i'm 6/12 in one eye and 6/18 in the other).
i'm really disappointed by this and i'm wondering is there any "flexibility" in this requirement?
don't want to sound cocky but i think i meet every other requirement pretty well,i've been working on building up my fitness, relevant experience etc.
anybody know if i'm stil in with a chance?
cheers.
p.s great site frank,i've been a long time lurker!

The only ones to go through the medical (as its so expensive) are the 6 or so potential cadets and a few reserves (in case the others fail). So its hard to know. Your best bet would be to ring the competitions section and ask if there's any flexibility.

Had the final interview yesterday along with an interview with a psychologist and hand/eye coordination tests. Went well I thought, now just a matter of waiting on the postman to find out!
