you may wish to welcome the visit of Bush but it seems to me that most people in Ireland - and probably most members of this site - do not agree with you.
His visit has led to an incredible erosion of the civil liberties of Irish citizens in our own country.
If you're unlucky enough to live in the vicinity of Shannon Airport you now need a pass to travel to & from your own home.
11 miles of a dual carriageway on a national route are closed for the duration of his visit. WHY?
Thousands of Gardai and soldiers are called up for duty - yet many parts of nearby Limerick city remain a no go zone for Gardai!
If a similar security arrangement was undertaken in the USA for the visit of a foreign leader there would be an outcry.
