Aviation Photography / Night Photo's
« on: March 05, 2012, 12:06:57 pm »
Good evening all,

As you can see from my recent uploads i've started trying some night shots, mainly out of pure boredom as nothing happening down my way. I've now started using a tripod instead of chancing my arm handheld with 800 ASA and 1600 ASA. My most recent shot uploaded is of EI-SLG taken at 100ASA with an 13 second exposure at f/s 11 with an automatic white balance on the camera set at tungsten light.

Does anyone out there have any tips or point in the right direction for that perfect night shot???

Regards,

Paul

Other Aviation Events / Terminal Convention at Cork Airport's old Terminal
« on: February 19, 2011, 10:53:29 pm »
Good evening all,

I'm helping one of the organisers with with this, if anyone is interested in doing a talk or even a slideshow, please let me know. Please see below.

The official website is http://www.terminalconvention.com/

Im an artist working at Terminal Convention, I hope some of you can come along,
thanks for posting!

Im organising an informal conference Viewing Area on aviation and spotting at
the event on Sat 19th & Sunday 20th March 2011 and would love people to get
involved through this thread or through the project blog
http://viewingarea.tumblr.com/

I really want the aviation enthusiast community to take part so if you would
like to present and share slideshows, an idea, talk or experiences please do get
in touch. If you know any others interested, please direct them to
http://viewingarea.tumblr.com/

The idea is to open up an old ideal plane-spotting vantage point in the old
terminal to people who could benefit from it. Also make it a bit of a social
gathering and informal conference on all things air related; from artists
inspired by aircraft to DIY radarboxes and radiocontrol flight and I hope some
representation from local staff and enthusiasts

Please do get in touch and take part or give suggestions! Hope this ok to place
this in your thread Kieran, I may also post in the News section.

Thanks! Ross Dalziel

Red Arrows Collide During Greek Training

3:43pm UK, Tuesday March 23, 2010

Katie Cassidy, Sky News Online
Two of the Red Arrows have collided over Crete, forcing one pilot to eject before his aircraft crashed onto the Greek island.

The tail of one Red Arrow was snapped off in the accident

It is understood the second plane landed safely along with the rest of the RAF squadron at Iraklion Airport.

The pilot who parachuted from his aircraft suffered a dislocated shoulder and was taken to hospital.

The Ministry of Defence confirmed an incident had occurred during the aerobatic team's pre-season training at the Kastelli airforce base.

"A service inquiry will be convened to identify the cause of the crash," a spokesman added.

Photos taken after the accident showed one Red Arrow's tail tip snapped off and damage to the back right of the plane.

The Red Arrows team arrived on Crete at the weekend for the first stage of Exercise Springhawk, the RAF said.

With their trademark red, white and blue vapour trails, the Red Arrows are a familiar sight at British air displays.
