Aviation News / former IAC Spit 159 down
« Last post by Shamrock145 on September 07, 2015, 01:17:22 pm »
The former Irish Air Coprs Supermarine Spitfire T9 Tail #159 was involved in a wheels up landing in Kent today (7th Sept).

It's not the first time she's landed on her belly. Luckily there were no reports of injuries. Hopefully pilot and machine will be back flying again soon.

Over the last 25 years or more I've accumulated a large collection of Air Forces Monthly, Air International, Combat Aircraft, Airliners, Airplane, Take-Off, Aircraft Illustrated, Flypast, Flyer, Pilot, Air Power International etc. etc.

There are too many to list individually. About 4 full space saver boxes worth, all absolutely mint condition as they were in the shops.

Looking to give them to a good home. Too good to recycle. Ideally would sell as a job lot but could break down to individual magazine types. The more magazines taken the less per it will cost.

If anyones interested let me know. Located Dublin.

Site Information / Upcoming Website Changes
« Last post by Frank on March 02, 2015, 09:09:32 pm »
Evening all,

Just letting you know that over the coming weeks I'm going to make some changes to the website, specifically the IrishAirPics.com part of it.

WorldAirPics.com as a picture database, has all the functionality of IrishAirPics.com, plus a bit more besides. A small portion of IrishAirPics.com has also been my "professional" home for years now, but it's kind of hard to reach, so......

With that in mind, I'm going to dedicate IrishAirPics.com to my "professional" endeavours, while WorldAirPics.com will serve as the picture database.

And before anyone panics, ALL the pages of IrishAirPics.com will stay exactly as they are, nothing will change, except for the homepage, although the search page will be re-directed to WorldAirPics.com.

This means that any page that is indexed by Google (or any other search engine) will stay as it is, so if anyone searches for your picture and Google throws up an IrishAirPics.com link, it'll still work.

It's about time I tidied things up, finally make the website one thing or another. If anyone has any questions or concerns just ask, but rest assured that neither website is going anywhere for now, and neither are your pictures.

Regards,

Frank.

Irish Air Shows / Re: Patrouille Suisse for Bray

Excellent!! I visited Switzerland/Meiringen Air Base in July 2012 and was very impressed to learn about the Swiss Air Force capabilities - and view their F/A-18's and F-5E's up close. The 'Patrouille Suisse' use F-5E's and are one of the few air force display teams who utilise 'front line' jets.

Well done to all at Bray Air Show for securing 'Patrouille Suisse'!! :airforce_cool:

Ireland is "Europe’s weakest link" in air defence cover because our Air Corps is so poorly equipped it cannot defend our airspace against hijackers taking over commercial aircraft or intrusions by foreign military aircraft.
