John,
A Casa CN235 will be at Fairford. Tony F will be onboard, so watch out for him at the Casa. If you email me at  apke@eircom.net or phone me on my mobile at 086 2525212. I will give you his mobile number.

Hi Tony, thanks for that info, it's a bit late now! I didn't get a chance to check the 'net just before I left, mind you it was at 04.15 on Friday morning! We met up with the other Kent Wing Air Cadet coaches at Biggin Hill and had us a convoy! Arriving at Fairford at 10.00. It was absolutely pouring it down! Three of us had a look around the static displays but no sign of the Air Corps CASA. I got a phone call from Frank and we met up, cheers for that Frank! It was good having a chat with you, not long enough though! We had to get back to our coaches for 16.00. Then it took us an hour to get out of the quagmire that was a car park! Back to our minibus and an accident on the M2 had us take a detour through Sittingbourne, but roadworks in Faversham delayed so much traffic the M2 was open while we were still stuck! We finally arrived back at 00.30 on Saturday morning! It was a very long day for the Cadets! But they all seemed to enjoy the day.
Hope you got some good photo's, Frank. Any news on why the CASA wasn't there?

John,
Casa 253 was there, you must have missed it. I did not know it was going there until early afternoon Friday. Sorry about that.

Hi Guys,

I got some pics of CASA 252 at Fairford, I'll upload them eventually.  As for the rest of the pictures, the lighting wasn't the best most of the time but I got a few good shots on digital, have 23 films to get developed yet so I'll be waiting to see how they come out!

John, you must have been shattered by the time you got home, I was wrecked after 4 hours tearing around half the static display (yes, I only covered half the static in 4 hours!)  at Fairford on Friday, it was some spread.  Still and all, it was a great show, I'm glad I went.

Regards,

Frank.

Hey Guys,
what time did the CASA arrive at Fairford, do you know? we had to leave at 16.00 and the weather was still bad at that stage, maybe that's why I missed it! There was a lot of stuff there, though!I really wanted to have a chat with the crew as well and if Tony F. was there with his camera! We could have got some snaps of us together after all these years! (Last time he took a photo of me it was with my XS1100 Yamaha actually inside the old Photo Section at the end of the Main Block!!)

Speaking of prestigious events, I understand that Pilatus are using Irish PC-9 number 266 at the Farnborough show this week.  Is it a "first" for the Air Corps to have an aircraft exhibited at this event?
