L-39 air to air
« on: June 30, 2010, 08:41:22 pm »
The picture below was taken over northern Holland from the back of Invicta Aviation's Shorts Skyvan (G-BEOL) while the L-39 was enroute from Groningen to Gilze-Rijen for the 2010 Luchtmacht Dagen.

Thanks to Eric Coeckelberghs and his Photo Crew for organising the photoshoot.

All comments welcome.

Regards,

Frank.

Thanks Paul!  :airforce_cheesy:

I have to say, and I'm not blowing my own trumpet here, this is one of the best pictures I've ever taken (IMHO), I was delighted when I saw it on the PC once I got home.

This is only the tip of the iceberg in terms of the air to air pictures I took a few weeks back, I'm still waiting on permission to post pictures of A-4 Skyhawks, F-4 Phantoms, Dutch F-16's, a Hawker Hunter & a Dutch Dornier 228 Coastguard aircraft.

To give you an idea of what I have waiting in the wings, check out these links...

Really lovely picture Frank!

Just out of curiosity, what kit did you use and did you have long to "set it up"?

I had 2 cameras quite literally strapped to me. I had 2 x EOS 40D's, one with a 24-105mm lens and the other with a 70-200mm lens. The shot above was taken at 47mm zoom plus the 1.5 crop factor of the lens making it equivalent to 75mm on a 35mm film camera.

What do you mean exactly by set it up? If you mean setting up the photo shoot, I didn't set up. Someone else did the organising and I just flew in the Skyvan.

A truly superb shot of the L39 there Frank. Well done. And just to think we could have had 6 of these instead of the PC-9s... :airforce_cry:
