Special Talks- The Fouga Magister in Irish Air Corps Service.

A series of talks to celebrate the aircraft will be given by Brigadier General Paul Fry, General Officer Commanding the Irish Air Corps, Comdt ret'd John Mulvanny, former team leader of the Silver Swallows and Joe Maxwell, author on Saturday 6th July at the National Museum, Collins Barracks. The talks will commence at 2.30pm and admission is free but advance booking is essential. If you wish to attend you must book a place by contacting the museum via email to bookings@museum.ie

Very enjoyable talk/presentation!
Well done to all concerned!

Fouga '216' looked great on the parade ground :airforce_cool:

Really enjoyed the presentation, well done to all involved. The only problem was that it wasn't long enough! John Mulvanny gave a great description on how the Silver Swallows put together their routine, found myself standing at 216 afterwards trying to figure out the slot positions :) Have to agree with him, it'd be great to see a new Silver Swallows in the future.

I agree too!
Cant see why there isn't a current display team using the PC-9's?
A display team is a great boost for the Defence Forces ...and indeed the country!

As its a voluntary effort by ground crew and pilots, realistically all that is required is extra fuel for practice/transits/displays. (Perhaps Aer Lingus could be sponsors of such a team?)

Its amazing that we could afford to pay for fuel for 4 x Fouga jets back in the recession-hit 1980's and
yet now (apparently?) we can't afford fuel for 4 x turboprops?

...or is it a lack of interest on the part of pilots, or AC officials?

Agree Silver, long overdue.  Is it my imagination or are the ceremonial flypast formations much less tight then when the experienced Silver Swallows pilots flew them in the Fougas?!? :stirthepot:
