No 'bloody nose' plan for North Korea - U.S. official, senatorsThe senior U.S. diplomat for Asia, Susan Thornton, said on Thursday she understood that the Trump administration had no strategy to mount a preventative "bloody nose" strike on North Korea. While President Donald Trump's administration has repeatedly said it prefers a diplomatic solution to the crisis over North Korea's development of nuclear missiles capable of hitting the United States, U.S. officials have said Trump and his advisers have discussed the possibility of a preventative "bloody nose" strike on the isolated Asian country. Such talk has alarmed experts who warned that this could trigger catastrophic retaliation but it has died down since North and South Korea resumed talks last month and North Korea joined the Winter Olympics in South Korea.
