Hi All
Let’s hope they apply for the license nice and early to avoid another MACH 1 Issue :banghead:
The webpage looks promising but the short display time suggests that it will be a limited display
Casement would be the ideal take off point so military jets could easily arrive & depart quickly
Here’s the starting line up so far
•Breitling Wing Walkers
•The Yakolevs
•Team Viper
•The Irish Air Corps
•Eddie Goggins Aerobatics
Here’s the link: http://www.airshow.ie/content.aspx?id=203
It begs the question why Baldonnel couldn't have hosted this show celebrating Irish Aviation's 100 Anniversary
-
Swiss PC-7 TEAM yearly program 2010 (http://66.196.80.202/babelfish/translate_url_content?.intl=us&lp=xx_en&trurl=http%3a%2f%2fwww.lw.admin.ch%2finternet%2fluftwaffe%2fde%2fhome%2faktuell%2fairshows%2fpc_7_team.html)
-
The PC 7 team performed at the 75th anniverary of the IAC back in 97' I wasn't that impressed by them. Hosting airshows in Casement has become a taboo subject since 2000. Would love to see some classic aircraft at this ie Hurricane, Lysander etc. After all it is a celebration of 100 years of aviation in Ireland.....
-
What about the Spitfire in the IAC colours :ireland:
and the DH Rapide two very important additions to celebrate this historic anniversary
Last year at Portrush wasn't there a UH-1Huey too if this is to celebrate Irish Aviation's 100 shouldn't this include the whole of Ireland

Joey1,
Spitfire Tr9 PV202 ex IAC 161 is no longer in Air Corps colours, it now sports a Royal Netherlands Air Force scheme.
The DH84 Dragon Iolar was damaged in the hangar at Dublin Airport hopefully it will be repaired some time.

Airshow 100
-
Hurricane!! Brilliant can't wait
-
looking more promising
their seem to be new additons popping up too well ???
I haven't seen "Twister Duo" before any member know how good their display is ???
Sad to hear about the The DH84 Dragon Iolar :airforce_cry:
she would have been a nice site to see as part of the static display
and the Avro-631-Cadet
and who remembers the the Flypast of April 2006 whe not perform another historic formation flypast :buttrock:
-
The twister duo's routine looks really technical... would be interesting to see how it turns out in the sky.
-
Good line up so far lets hope they get some fast jets :)
-
Hi all
In a very bold statement the website Quotes "there's never been an air display with a lineup like this "Un Quote
Mmmm... I beg to differ
what about The Galway Airshow and Air spectacular 2000 and if you take Northern Ireland there's Portrush
All the above had cracking displays Thunderbirds / The Rad Arrows / Rockwell B1 lancer/ and who could forget The Luftwaffer Tornados god i miss the Tonado display :buttrock:
I remember at Galway When the 2 Tornados arrived one refuelling the other Brilliant
and our very own IAC :ireland:
I could go on but i risk being boring
-
It looks like the red arrows will be displaying on the 7th in Punchestown and in Salthill the same day(TBC) according to there website
-
No dutch f-16 for airshow 100 according to f-16 display site, dates released today and according to some forums the show is in doubt as a licence hasnt been granted yet due to objection from local stud farms. :-\
-
What forums are speculating about the licence issue?
-
Ther is an article in the racing post saying that numerous objections have been made because of the extra noise being caused by the display aircraft. googled objectioc to airshow 100 and found it
-
If it's not peace protesters trying to save the world it's millionaires trying to protect their investment... how diverse a range of interests can you have objecting to an air show?
Funny how their helicopters coming and going to race tracks don't seem to pose a problem...
-
Never a truer word said, article is in the racing post, my mistake
-
For several years in the late 70's early 80's Air Spectacular was held in Fairyhouse racecourse with Phantoms and F1-11's being the order of the day. This country can be so frustrating sometimes.....
-
Sorry Guys I feel a rant coming on :stirthepot:
And what about The Oxygen festival!!!! :o
a weekend of mayhem
Enough noise to frighten the life out of us humans let alone horses
Let’s face it Kildare CC seem to have issues regarding aviation events not noise :stirthepot:
Has anyone consulted the event organisers of the Airshow 100 to hear what they have to say regarding compromise like alternative venues or flight path issues
Franks comments about the helicopters coming and going at race meetings is a good point
How can pilots confirm dates if the show is likely to be a "non Runner" (if you pardon the pun) :airforce_huh:
-
I have e-mailed the organisers via the website and recieved nothing at al, and if check a DC-3 BBMF Dakota is due to display for 5 minutes on the monday of the airshow and nothing on the airshow site. What is going on.
-
airbus,
You need to be patient, displays that appear on other websites still doesn't mean that the organisers can announce it.
Politics and diplomacy have a big role to play, especially between a neutral country and a NATO member country, there is a process to follow and at times you just have to wait for the official press release from the participating air force / display act.
Regards,
Frank.
-
Ok Frank Ill have to calm down but you do get annoyed when we get any sort of airshow in Ireland there has to be some sort of problem that pops up.
Regards,
Airbusa320
-
Your right A320. Please god it goes ahead !! :airforce_cry:
-
You're doing well to get an air show in Ireland these days that doesn't have some kind of problem
-

Well, at least the BBMF 2010 programme on their website shows the Dakota flying from Blackpool on 7 June and making a five-minute appearance in "Kildare" before returning to RAF Coningsby.
-
Folks.
This is a link that outlines the "concerns" of the equine fraternity - seems they were not consulted!
http://www.racingpost.com/news/bloodstock/gilltown-stud-derrinstown-stud-unrest-over-punchestown-air-show-plan/688333/
I live in Naas - about 2km from Punchestown and look forward to seeing this show happen as it will be a family week-end (as distinct from Oxigen), hosted at an easily accessible site that has experienced crowd management staff and should bring some joy to the silent majority. I have tried the Kildare Co Co web-site for any details about planning this event, but nothing is easily accessible by searching (they are not answering the phones at the moment either). Makes one wonder how these objections are getting through...................
???
-
Funny how during the Ryder Cup when there was over 2000 movements and during the National Hunt festival when you can get 5 at a time held over Kill no one has a problem. Whats more annoying is half of the horse fraternity dont even pay tax but theyre given more of a voice than others :banghead: :banghead:
-
Welcome to Ireland :airforce_rolleyes: :banghead:
-
According to this week's Leinster Leader, there are a number of "submissions" to the local authority relating to this event. Seemingly, in addition to the stud farm fraternity, the other local race course (Naas) feel that the air-show could have an adverse effect on attendance at the meeting (race) in Naas that week-end. The mind boggles! :sleepy:
-
Fron Kildare County Councils own website http://kildare.ie/CountyCouncil/Environment/Noise/LinkToDocument,7181,en.doc No 4 says it all really. I bet half of these objectors have previously been 'looked after' when Oxegen has been on. Maybe if the Racecourse Manager stated in the press that they have never had any problems in the past when there have been helicopters at Punchestown race meets it may re-assure the council that these 12 objectors are talking out of their afterburners. Does anyone know off hand what the population of Kildare is, just curious what percentage they represent? ???
-
Oh.....i smell a rat on this with Naas Racecourse!! Did you see the Phoneix article? Looks like this is to do with ongoing politics between Punchestown and Naas Racecourses and has got out of control.
Most of the people giving out are either Helicopter owners or users in the county. I also see objections are now starting to be withdrawn?? This stinks and i wonder how much money has changed hands....planning me arse more like the brown envelope brigade are out hunting again.
I also see that the Red Arrows will be displaying on the Mon of the show :buttrock:
-
Maybe Naas wern't happy that no one offered a big brown envelope, I'd hate to speculate! but we all know how it works in this Country. 12m generated for the County and entertainment for 70,000 people over the two days potentially being sidelined by a few objectors! Maybe they should get ye man O'Flynn in Cork, with the heli-pad in his Stud Farm to let them know how horses really react.
-
makes ya wonder how many brown envenlopes are circulated for all these concerts at punchestown to take place :stirthepot:
shame on kcc and the  mindless minority
-
Just checked the Airshow 1oo web site and it has been updated, it now has the Red arrows as displaying. Still no word of when tickets will go on sale or even if KCC has given permission for the show to go ahead ?
-
Tickets are now on sale via a link in the airshow website ?
-
I see the Red Arrows site now has the 7th June as ''To be Confirmed'' :suspect:
Looks like they dont know if its going ahead either... :banghead:
-

It's been TBC for the last few weeks, they probably just haven't updated the website yet.
-
When they first announced the 2010 Display calendar the 7th of July had Punchestown and Salthill down for Displays....
Now they have removed them.... So it looks like they cant get confirmation from the organisers.... :duh:
-
I see in the latest news section of The racing post that airshow 100 has bee given a conditional go ahead given

Christ Man, will you give the organisers some credit. The Reds are due to display in both venues on the same day. (Please note until officially confirmed this is still a rumour)
The organisers have no control over the diplomatic process, nor have they got any control over the Reds website.
-
The Reds have announced that all their displays before 16 June have been canceled due to the delay in training because of the accident involving the syncro pair....http://www.raf.mod.uk/reds/teamnews/index.cfm?storyid=FBD9ADF3-5056-A318-A8C202B8898A9514 (http://www.raf.mod.uk/reds/teamnews/index.cfm?storyid=FBD9ADF3-5056-A318-A8C202B8898A9514)
-
This news, although a big shame, is not really that surprising. I think that the reds are lucky to be doing anything this year, and the way things are with cut backs and what have you, it would have been an ideal excuse for the MOD to put an end to them permanently.
-
Pity about the Red Arrows not making the two Irish shows...I suppose it's understandable due to the accident in Crete. However, I doubt the UK MoD will disnband them...they are such great ambassadors for the RAF/UK.
It's just a real pity the Silver Swallows are not re-formed using the PC-9's...the AC/country could do with more 'esprit de corps' during the current economic conditions.
BTW...I want to get an 'early bird' ticket for 'Airshow 100'....Can I get a single entry ticket?
Or is the only option the €60 car/group ticket? i.e. I will be the only occupant in my car...
-
Hi bought tickets the other day for 25 euro per adult single day entry but does not include parking im sure you can pay on the day. Just a word of note that the ticket link is now missing from the site and when you go to tickets.ie Airshow100 is down as not on sale?
-
Thanks for that!
Wonder why the tickets are 'no longer on sale' ???
-

It was only a couple of years ago that the MOD were on the verge of disbanding them. A huge response to a Downing Street petition seems to have been their saving grace.
-
Oh...didnt know that!
Maybe we should start a petition to get The Silver Swallows up-and-running again?!;)
-

What a good idea ;D
-
Still no tickets on sale for Airshow100, wonder whats happening as the ticket site says not for sale. Its hardly a great way to get people to go to the show and not leaving themselves much time to sell the tickets?
-

Talked to a solder just got back from Kosovo (after the reopening of European airspace) there currently is a recruitment ban and this probably was the last tour of duty for the Irish contingent in Kosovo the same may be said for the IAC :ireland: ???
My point is……
Wasn’t the Silver swallows formed to entice young cadets to the Corp as with most Formation teams their primary role is to promote careers in the air forces and represent their countries.
So now with cutbacks the order of the day the chances of the Silver swallows reforming would be pointless (in the Minister of Defence eyes that is!) :banghead:
Anyway I always felt that when we had a 3 or even 4 ship formation of PC-9s at Bray Airshow for instance, that they should be called the Silver swallows :buttrock:
The IAC PC9s haven’t been confirmed (Officially) for Airshow 100 which is disappointing
I’m all for the petition ,
-
I see the 4.25 at Punchestown today was the"aIRSHOW 100"race Lets hope the airshow is sill going ahead even though the tickets have been off sale for the last week or so?
-
Just wondering If there is going to be a shuttle bus service provided ?
-
Just wondering If there is going to be a shuttle bus service provided ?
With just over 5 weeks to the shows date and no tickets on sale i dont think a shuttle bus will be required... Also the price they were charging is a bit steep considering the fairly small display line up.... I think i will save the money for RIAT and if the show does go ahead i'll be finding a nice field near by to see the display from...
-
I assume the will be a parimiter set up for that reason. to ensure that ticket holders and local residents will only be allowed near the vicinity so bring binoculars!
The BBMF are sending a Dakota despite not on the lineup. there's still enough time for additions justa note of caution Baldonald Boy ! You have RIAT 2010 as a reply tn this Thread which is a bit confusing and good luck on your field trip :-) LOL

Are you for real???
RIAT 2010 is only on my reply because you posted it first when asking about the shuttle bus..... :duh:
And as for the perimiter set up to keep people out of the surrounding countryside... i never saw one during all the air shows in bal and i wont expect to see one at punchestown...
-
Please accept my humble apologies BB :duh:
Don't know how I manage to do that maybe it was because i posted it on my Mobile phone and didn't see it
sorry :fryingpan:
I seem to be putting my foot in it as of late :duh:
I don't know Punchestown that well' and after Air Spectacular 2000 I've only gone to free Airshows in Ireland Bray/ Salthill/ Portrush
I see your point about Baldonnel' not much could be done there i suppose especially with the M7 nearby a good spot if memory serves me
I personally like to be close to the action but on the other hand I dread being stuck in a traffic jam so parking at a nearby field maybe the way to go
apologies again for earlier mixup Baldonnel Boy
-
Does anybody have any information about Airshow100? Im just wondering will it go ahead as it seems the organisers had relied on the Red Arrows to bring in the crowds and as soon as they had to pull out the tickets were taken off sale ?
-
Could be the reason
Has any other member tried the Irish Aviation Authority, or even The National Aero Club of Ireland . Maybe they can shed some light. Airshow Websites are typicaly slow in updating but a lot may be going on behind the scenes just a matter of "Wait n See" i suppose!
-
Airshow100 is CANCELLED , just got e-mail from the ticket agents stating that event is cancelled due to the Red arrows pulling out. Same old story with them was really looking forward to the event .
-
Shame, but one act doesn't make a 2 day air show !!
-
A lot of time and effort went into organising this show, pity it now has to be cancelled. I'm sure the organisers are even more frustrated than those of us who were looking forward to attending.
Maybe next year?
Or maybe another location!! ;)
-
Shame, but one act doesn't make a 2 day air show !!
I agree! Surely they could have continued without The Red Arrows (or have gotten a replacement act..though I know this may have proven difficult this 'late in the day') ?
Is it too late for the 'powers that be' in Baldonnel to consider hosting the show there (a more appropriate venue imho considering its a 100th anniversary show) ?
-
What a shame the show is cancelled, looks like Portrush will be the biggest aishow in the country once again.Maybe the Air Corps could participate in the Airshow there this year, saying it is the 100th year of flight here?
-
Still no update on the web-site. And as others have said one display act dosent make a two day air show. There is some thing strange going ?
-
Web site has now been updated......

This fiasco reads like the Mach 1 farce of a couple of years back. To think the last recession of the 80's could be considered the golden age of airshows in Ireland with successive Air Spectaulars being held at Baldonnel. Maybe going forward lessons can be learnt from these show's-get a headline act from another airforce other than the RAF, Patrouille De France for example. The Reds are amazing but have been seen so many times now on these shores. Hold the show at an airfield -maybe one of the numerous regional airports throughout the country. A greater mixture of participants, from fast jets to classic warbirds.
Remember how Air Spectacular opened in 1987-several low flypasts by the Aer Lingus 747-fantastic. This could have been a good opener for the illfated Airshow 100; with an Airbus A330 buzzing the fields of Kildare-oh forgot about the horse fraternity

I agree
Baldonnel hosting any event seems to be a taboo subject
"The powers that be" should have taken over the organisation of this event along with IAA a long time ago
for instance :
- Baldonnel should have a lot of controlled airspace with no interference from any outside "brown envelope brigade" :banghead:
- I presume foreign military aircraft visit Baldonnel on a regular basis for whatever reason meaning good foreign relations so that fast jet you love so much could be just a phone call away
IMO a big opportunity was missed to host a very large scale Airshow given the fact that well....... some of us might not get to celebrate irish aviation's 200th Anniversary :rotfl:
