Hi Guys,

Any chance of anyone getting a picture of the EC145 that's at Baldonnel at the minute and posting it on the board or sending it to me for the website?

Irish Air Corps / Old habits creeping back in....
« on: June 05, 2003, 06:25:49 pm »
I like you Sealion, we'll keep you, I am the Boss!!!  '<img'>

Seriously though, FF I accept your point about some people finding certain things offensive, what's funny or harmless to me is next to murder for other people.

As I said earlier, if anyone finds a post offensive let me know and I'll sort it out or even send the person in question a private message, they can edit their own messages, but please don't start a slagging match in public, I don't want the board to become a laughing stock and I don't think any any of you want that either.

All I'm trying to do is protect the integrity of the board, and of the quality of the posting.  Is a bit of good manners too much to ask for?

Regards,

Frank.

Hi Guys,

There are a few post's on this board that are, we'll say, not nice.

The old habits of slagging people off and getting people's backs up are creeping back in again.

Now while I set up this board for people with an interest in the Air Corps to discuss things related to the Air Corps, and I appreciate the fact that all of you use this board for this purpose, can we please refrain from the likes of accusing someone of being racist because they refer to the Italians as "olive oil lovers", the comment was light hearted and not meant to be offensive, yet the person that made the racist accusation had a post with "God Bless Ireland, God Bless America!" in it, other people would find that offensive.

If that's the case then do you find the "Spud Missile" joke offensive?

The above examples are just the tip of the iceberg, so can we please refrain from dragging this board down, if something really, really offends or bothers you please report the post to me or send me an email / private message and I'll look into it, but please don't go in head first and accuse someone of being X, Y or Z.

Keep it clean, we all know some people on this board like to talk a lot or are in fantasy land but please bite you lip rather than launch at them, just ignore the post.

Saying all that though, thanks to all of you for using the board and this site, it'g good to see some people still have an interest in the Irish Air Corps.

Regards,

Frank.

Irish Air Corps / Golden Web Award
« on: June 05, 2003, 11:32:04 am »
Hi Guys,

Thanks for the compliments, I'm glad you like the site.  The average unique daily hits for the Air Corps section of IrishAirPics.com now stands at 124!, click here to see for yourself.

I'm in the process of streamlining the galleries, which will take a while I might add, but it should result in an even better site (eventually!).

Thanks for all your help, support, and contributions.

Frank.

Irish Air Corps / Where did you first hear about the Air Corps ?
« on: May 10, 2003, 12:55:37 pm »
Hi Guys,

I first found out about the Air Corps in 1985 when I was on a big camp (called a Jamboree?) with the Scouts in Portumna.

There was a flypast of 3 Fouga's (pre Silver Swallows days) to open the event and during that week there was a Search And Rescue demo by an Alouette III, I've been hooked since then.

I went to my first airshow in 1989 at Baldonnel, where I took this picture, one of my first ever pictures at an airshow:

My photographic "career" started with this one photo, and it has now grown into the website you are looking at.

Thanks for looking! '<img'>

Irish Air Corps / New S61N Picture!
« on: May 13, 2003, 01:52:10 pm »
Hi Batafada,

I've no information on when EI-CXS was built, and I'm not sure about it working in Norway.  I know alright that it came from there before service with the Air Corps (CHC do there heavy maintenance there) but it had the reg G-CBZK.

Hi guys,

The Air Corps Sikorsky S61N had the civil reg EI-CXS and was initially delivered to the Air Corps on the 13th Jan 2003.

It arrived in Sligo on Thursday the 8th May and as far as I am aware, the crews are supposed to be working up and will assume SAR duties from the Finner Dauphin sometime in June.

The helicopter is on lease from CHC Ireland with Air Corps pilots but it will be maintained by a civilian crew.

Frank.

I was sent in a picture today of an Irish owned, Canadian based Aero L-39 that seems to have the Light Strike Squadron badge painted on the tail.

What do you reckon?

Hi Guys,

Sorry for not posting this info earlier...

The fuselage badge on L-39C, reg N239BB is very similar to the Irish Air Corps Light Strike Squadron badge , however the badge was changed considerably, incorporating 84 (Russian Squadron no) into the body of the badge, but largely, it is a copy of the Air Corps badge.

I'm still waiting on more pictures of the L-39 and when I get them I'll put them on the website.

Hi Alpha,

Nellis AFB outside Las Vegas has 4 large scale models of the F-16 in Thunderbirds colours as a gate guardian, I have a picture somewhere, I'll try and dig it up.

Frank.
