Hi Mate,

sorry to say but i don't think you'll find anyone prepared to trade their bars. As far as i'm aware it is illegal aswell!!

I don't know who gave you the smock but he must be mad!!  'pilot_wink'

Anyway see you soon.

Hi lads and lasses,

as things are progressing at the moment we are probbably going to attend Volkel with a chopper and our sales stand, so come out with us, it will be great craic! Cheap flights from shannon to Eindhoven (about 30-45 min with the train from volkel)very good public transport (trust me, i've lived there for 11 years) and cheap B&B's. Come on lads. Lets party!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!  'applause'  'pilot_laugh'

They can't, because the S-61n 's aren't owned by the Air corps nor the government. as far as i know they are opperated by the department of marine and enviroment. The choppers itself are leased from some english company.

Please correct me if i'm wrong.

I like it Bailer!

The lot will be printed on (Should we use the idea) as embroidered versions would be a bit (a big huge bit!!!) to costly.

I was thinking along the lines of an embroidered All 3 with something like: Thanks for the years. (or a differant slogan like: First of many, Allouette 3) underneath it.

Irish Air Corps / Cessna Replacement - Type or Role?
« on: April 08, 2007, 10:52:38 am »
Hi ST, interesting topic.

Ive given it some thought and i came up with the:

DHC-6 Twin Otter.

Highly maneuverable with low stall speed (150 KM/H) and a top speed of 340 KM/H.
It's a twin turboprop (Pratt&Whitney).
Weather radar, GPS ect.
It has a crew of 2 and can take up to 15 pasengers.
Flight endurance is 6 hours with a max range of 1300 km.
It only needs a 240 m runway to get airborne.
Seats can be remove for 1940 KG of cargo.
Options for underwing hardpoints and a GPMG in the cabin.
Spares can't be a problem with all the military and civil opperators.

I think 3-4 aircraft would replace the curent Cessna 170 fleet.
Should the IAC buy the Twin Otter its capabilities would dubble. Think of it, more Army co-op because it can take up to 10 Rangers (para's), it would be able to perform cargo flights to free up the Casa's and Government jets so they can carry out their intended role. It can take all the survailance equipment you need and so on.

And besides she'd look lovely in a green coat and a roundel don't ye think?   '<img'>
