I wonder will the US Military "steal the show "after all , They're the birthday boys this year!!!!!

I think they may well steal the show as there are "whispers" on a couple of forums that there will be F-22 Raptors and B2 Spirits also.
There are a few countries that have not yet been added yet that are commonly there, French and Slovakians for two.  Last year there were 195 aircraft present in the final line up and there are 170 already this year.  Its looking to be a good one.

Hi all

Just look at the lastest UPDATE for RIAT, a lot of airshows would be happy with half of this lot as their final line up and there is still 3 months of up dates to go!

RIAT updates

That makes it 170 aircraft from 16 countries so far listed all together.  The full list as of the 13th April check the following link.

I’m thinking if making the trip for the first time this year
I need some travel advice
If any other member has traveled before could they post a “Beginners Guide to to getting there” assuming they don’t Own a private plane or helicopter to whisk them to Fairfort!

Example: Is there a way from Bristol airport e.g.: trains /busses

Cheers!!!

I went last year for the first time and am going again this year.  Fly to Bristol, there is a regular shuttle bus from there to Bristol via Bristol Temple Meads station, from there you can get a train to Swindon.  We stay in a Swindon B&B and get the shuttle bus to and from the bus station to the air field (£5 return for adults last year).  If you are thinking of going I would hurry and get some accomadation organised as last year you could'nt get a park bench in Swindon at the time of the show!

I and my sons are staying at this B&B this year, looks ok.

You may of course prefer a hotel.  Hope this is of some help.

Some nice shots there Vulcan keep it up.

What type of camera are you using though?   '<img'>

I've just got a Canon EOS 350D and a 75-300mm USM zoom.  Like I said this is the first real chance I've had of taking pics of aircraft with it, which is what I got it for.

Spent a couple of hours up at carnmore yesterdaytrying out my new camera.  The sun was right in my face and low in the sky so that didn't help much.  Any comments or critism welcome because I never used a DSLR before.

Just seen the first listings of RIAT 2007 and they should be on the RIAT site later today.  Cracking first listing with 2 F-117 Nighthawks, B-52's, B-1B's, Canadian CF-188's, Hercs from Brazil and Greece to mention but a few.  Not bad and we have another 4 months of updates yet.  Roll on July!!!

Just found this site:

http://www.airshows.org.uk/photography/index.html .

This has great tips and advice on equipment, using that equipment and taking photos at airshows.  Well worth a look for anyone interested in this topic.

Not sure if you can brighten pictures with Paint.  I use Adobe Photo Eliments and PaintShop Pro.  Photo Elements is very good and the latest, Elements 5 is supposed to be brilliant altogether.

Problem solved!  EI-CXS has just been up around the airport in Galway and is now routing back to Sligo.  Rescue 118 after all.

Hi Folks

I now believe that the reg of the Sikorsky S61N in my picture is EI-CXS as I found a picture on the net, one from about 2001 or 2002, then doing an exercise with Kilrush lifeboat.  The standby chopper at Shannon I believe is EI-CNL so could EI-CXS be the Dublin standby, hence if was used that day, Rescue 116.  Anybody confirm or correct this?  I took the reg from the picture and because of the poor quality and the angle it looked like EI-CIS.

Hi all

Just wondering if anyone could help with a few aviation photograghy tips.  I am new here and also a very amateur photogragher with a very average digital SLR type camera.  I have been trying to take as best pictures as I can but can anyone help out with some advice on the following:

I know that the faster the shutter speed  the better the action photo, but what would be an advisable speed.  My camera will go up to 1/2000.

Any advice on focusing.  Because mine is digital the delay from pressing the shutter release to the actual shot creates problems.  This is especially a problem when trying to photograph aircraft in flight.  If you are photographing say a fast car you can focus on a spot in the road and wait for the car but with aircraft in flight there is nothing to focus on except the plain when it arrives.

any tips would be greatfully accepted.

OUCH!!!

First post and mistakes already. Or... do they have a second, reserve helo at Dublin with that reg.  I know that the rescue callsigns are location specific rather than aircraft specific.  I'm nearly sure that this was Rescue 116 that day.  If im wrong I stand corrected.  Whats the reg for the Sligo Sikorsky (R118)?
