An aircorps photographer was taking pictures of every building and feature of the don today from all angles!? When questioned about this seemingly nutty behaviour he said that it was for the programming of the new pc-9 sim!! Must be a fairly detailed program!!?
I'll keep yis posted!

Couple of questions for anyone in the know about the PC 9s... Has a colour scheme been decided on for them yet? Illuminous orange maybe (:) - only kidding)? How will the training syllabus be changed with their entry into service? Will there be a primary training a/c for the initial 40 odd hours, or will it all be done on the simulator and in the PC 9s, like Greece with their T-6As?

Also, what's the possibility of adding something like a reconnaisance pod to the stores of the aircraft? If memory serves, Marchettis undertake a recce role with a 35mm camera. Any chance of an upgrade on this. Finally, PDoff mentioned the HUD wasn't Pilatus recommended. Any ideas why they went for it?

The HUD is to be fitted into the PC21  which is still being test flown. Works fine in it so there is no problem. I think P Doff is listening to the drivers panicking again.

As for the SIM it's due to come into service June 2004 and every student must do 10 HRS in it before they are allowed into the PC9 in case they break it.

As for the SF260 as a lead in trainer they the drivers haven't decided yet what they're doing but we think they won't be dumping the SF260 too quickly..

The colour scheme they have more or less is a two tone grey, darker on top with dayglo tips.

Thanks for the info Claudel. It would be a bit of a jump alright for someone with no flying experience, straight into a PC 9 after 10 hrs in a flight simulator. Although I suppose most cadets have a few hours under their belts before joining.
