Alouette 4 ship formation pictures
« on: March 27, 2004, 04:39:37 pm »
Hi Guys,

I had the good fortune to go up in a 4 ship Alouette formation a few days ago and I'll be putting the pictures online over the next few days.

Click here to see the pictures

There are two pictures online at the minute but the rest will be online when I get the chance to upload them.

I got some lovely pictures so they will be worth the wait.

Thanks to all the guys involved in the formation, I know some if not all of you visit this site or use this board and I really appreciate the flip, sorry I didn't get a chance to say thanks properly, please pass on my thanks to anyone who hasn't read this message.

Regards & thanks,

Frank.

Hi MatRotor,

It was a bit of both, although I think it was more of a steady heli / pilot than my hand, you'd swear from some of the pics that I took while on level ground that I had one leg 6 inches shorter than the other!

Thanks for the feedback guys, I'm glad you like the pictures, there should be a few more online by the time you read these words.

Regards,

Frank.

Hi Guys,

I nearly forgot to tell ye.....

I've got 3 videos online now as well.

Go to the Irish Air Corps section, click on "Gallery" and then "Special Events", you'll find the pictures and videos under the "Visit to Baldonnel in March 2004" banner.

Some of them are 40 years old. I see no shame at all in retiring them. They have served us well, and deserve to be put out to pasture, like all good workhorses.

Great photo's, again, Frank! I've got one on my wall of 7 A3s in formation and I was in one at the back as crewman! It was so hard for the pilots to keep formation in line astern at 50-60 knots, as a small movement (and the A3 makes plenty of them as you know) gets exagerated as each following a/c makes a correction, so by the time the 'wave' gets to the tail end charlie he's leaping up and down like a good thing! Ah! Memories!
