Irish Air Corps / PC-9 Simulator

Thanks for the info Claudel. It would be a bit of a jump alright for someone with no flying experience, straight into a PC 9 after 10 hrs in a flight simulator. Although I suppose most cadets have a few hours under their belts before joining.

Couple of questions for anyone in the know about the PC 9s... Has a colour scheme been decided on for them yet? Illuminous orange maybe (:) - only kidding)? How will the training syllabus be changed with their entry into service? Will there be a primary training a/c for the initial 40 odd hours, or will it all be done on the simulator and in the PC 9s, like Greece with their T-6As?

Also, what's the possibility of adding something like a reconnaisance pod to the stores of the aircraft? If memory serves, Marchettis undertake a recce role with a 35mm camera. Any chance of an upgrade on this. Finally, PDoff mentioned the HUD wasn't Pilatus recommended. Any ideas why they went for it?

Irish Air Corps / What's this?!

Does anyone know what's happening with the S-61? Does it still fly in the non-SAR roles?

Good news about the flight sim mentioned in the News Section for the PC9s. Anyone know if it is the same type as that shown on the Pilatus ads on the back of An Cosantoir?

Two other questions:
1. Has the paint job been decided on yet?

2. Has anyone got any idea if an additional 4 aircraft will be bought in the future, to bring the number up to a full 12 aircraft squadron?
